Is it possible to purchase a modem and a router in one? Would this eliminate the hassle of setting both up? Before I had a NETGEAR router and a modem. The modem connected to a desktop, the router to the modem and then I connected wirelessly from my laptop. Would both in one unit be possible, and if so eliminate hassle? Thanks so much!

Sure. There are many like that.
What you need to do is look at the 'recommended list' from your ISP, and get one of those.

Would it be the same as setting up the router before? Or would it be different because it is 2 in 1?

Mostly the same. Once connected to your ISP, the 'modem' part is pretty transparent. And you should see the same functions as a standalone 'router'.

But it is recommended that you get one from their approved list. Otherwise, they may not assist if you have an issue and an 'unapproved' device.
