If the psu is out of warrantee, its better to replace it. The new psu will have a warrantee so you are covered there. Shop around, find a few that sound viable as replacements according to budget and size, and then please, please ask for opinions. PSU's are too important to make the wrong decision on, and buying the wrong one may end up costing more than just the price of the psu.
