Hello, Tom's Hardware forums. Long time reader, first time poster, sorry if the title is a little vague. My issue is this, I have fairly poor vision and want to find a monitor I can see clearly. I currently own a 1440p 27" TLS Asus monitor. It's beautiful, but I still have some trouble seeing things on it. The first issue is that due to the higher resolution, the text and interfaces in many games appear very small and are thus hard to read. Also, motion frequently seems blurry and hard to track. Finally, a 27" screen is just frankly too big for me when sitting at my desk, given how close I like to have my monitor.

I have considered getting a 120hz TN panel monitor. The color depth is not as important to me as having less blur and sharper images. My budget is capped at about $500. Obviously if I could spend less that would be better, but I understand that sometimes you need to pay for quality. I was looking at the ASUS VG248QE, as I'm not even remotely interested in 3D (I actually cannot see 3D, part of my vision issues).

I'm considering a 120hz monitor because I want good motion and with the current 1440p monitor I have, I find that I can't really see the difference between the 1080p and 1440p (Admittedly, the 1080p screen I had was closer to 20").

TL;DR:
Looking for 24"-ish monitor with good sharpness and contrast. Possibly 120hz. I'm currently located in the US, and have a powerful machine (Including a GTX 780) which should be able to push plenty of frames to make the 120hz worth it. Primarily for gaming. Budget capped at $500. My main question here is what to look for if I am trying to prioritize sharpness and contrast.

Would appreciate your thoughts!

Might look at BenQ XL2420TE (about $440) at 120, Asus has a 144 in their model VG248QE, (believe $290 last I looked)

Is there anything I should look for that will help clarity and sharpness of image? I know that 120-144Hz is obviously good, and a low response time is also good, anything else?
