Does the GTX 690 have 2 or 4 GB of VRAM?

I was just told by someone in another forum that although the card is advertised as a 4GB card, because it is a dual-chip card each actual chip has 2GB of RAM. Making for 2GB of usable RAM. Truth?

yes its essentially 2 2GB cards since the two GPUs are in SLI

So would you recommend it for triple-monitor gaming? My plan was to SLI two 690s together. Benchmarks show that it doesn't have any problem pulling frames at 5670x1080
