Should I invest the money to upgrade?

So y'all people of de interwebs, (WTF)
I was thinking of upgrading from my current i5 4430 @ 3.00 Ghz, which is pretty good I guess, for gaming. BUT I DO 3d Rendering too: really heavy stuff. So I have like $380 to spend, trying NOT to spend it, and this is what I figured I should do:
Intel core i7 4770k so I can overclock to 4.x (Tell me how much i can do)

Since that leaves me with around $50 for a fan:

That's what I just found, I originally found a full copper cooler, but I can't find it anymore.
Is this good? I know everything is compatible, I'm not that much of a noob.
So is it worth chucking in that much money?
Thanks,
Michael

Solution
so are there any other k series i7s that can go to 4.5 ghz that are LGA1150, compatible with b85 chipset?

No the B85 does not support overclocking.

Since you have a B85 motherboard I very strongly suggest the Xeon e3-1230v3 or e3-1240v3.
Honestly Michael, a i7 is made for HEAVY uses, so yes that is going to help with "3d Rendering really heavy stuff" BUTTTTTT.... if you have a 'game card' (i.e. AMD R9, NVidia 7770, etc.) then it won't really matter. Rendering for generating new material is 100% opposite to 'rendering' done by 'game' cards, and is why the Quadro and other "Workstation Graphics Cards" work alot better and cut down 'rendering times' especially for heavy duty.

I personally also agree a Xeon (for a Workstation) is much better suited then a i7, per the scores I seen and many Graphics Artists whom posted in the past. As a Xeon is made for servers and the type of 'processing' used for Rendering. I also noted that you can't have "enough memory", so having 8GB wouldn't cut it (norm for a PC) and best yet with around 32GB, especially for 'heavy use'.

All in all, Rendering is a costly investment I seen in comparison to 'gaming', and while it can be done 'on the cheap' what results is longer and longer waits / rendering times (hours) when trying to do what a Workstation can do 'easily' in minutes. If you have no deadlines or expectations for completing a project, then this isn't a issue, for the majority I seen in these forums, you don't have that luxury. Something to consider.

Edit: I have a b85me-csm asus motherboard. It was great and cheap, but it has b85:( so are there any other k series i7s that can go to 4.5 ghz that are LGA1150, compatible with b85 chipset? Thanks for the reply ;)
