how do I connect the GTX 760 to my motherboard?

I have tried connecting the 6 pin power and the 8 pin power and both at the same time. with both connected the screen message is "reboot and select proper boot device? what do I do? Is there a better way to connect in first place?

Hmmm...they should both be powered, but im not sure about the message youre receiving. Sounds like the bios detects new hardware and wants you to specify boot priority. Plug the card in (with both 6+8 pins connected)...and go into your BIOS, boot to your normal drive.
