Asus B85M-E/CSM Mobo SATA sockets not working
There are 6 SATA sockets on this Mobo; 4 6GB/s, 2 3GB/s. I am using the 4 6GB/s. When I plug a SATA hard drive into one of the vacant (tried both, same results) 3GB/s sockets, nothing happens. BIOS shows the socket empty, despite the powered up hard drive being plugged in. I checked the owners manual for help, and I don't find anything I'm not doing correctly. Any thoughts? Is my mobo bad?

The hard drive is a 250 GB, The instruction manual did not specify a certain drive to a certain socket. It was my decision, based on the speed, whether I wanted 3Gb/s or 6.

The drive is a Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 250 GB. BTW, I can make available one of the 6Gb/s sockets, plug this drive in, and it works fine.

As my original post says, I am using all four of the 6Gb/s ports, and need a 5th for this drive.
