Eh, I'd suggest you build it, it's kinda like adult legos.

But, if you really must skip the process of building it yourself, know that it wont be as stable, performing, and to your exacting standards and personal decor.

Best regards, Vel.

PS: Not that one for gaming, NCIX and others have better builds.

I started looking at places like newegg and tigerdirect at prebuilt systems to link one for you, but there was just to much to link. That's not a bad PC from BestBuy but the price is. You can also hit up manufactures directly and pick the specs you want.

Why people always suggest building one is that you could get the parts from the bestbuy machine and put it together for probably 600-650 bucks.

Honestly, my qualm isn't that they mark it up by several hundred. That's business, they have a massive bloated overhead to maintain afterall... But, what bothers me:

1) Bestbuy completely inundates their prebuilt systems with bloatware, rooted deep into the system, and they do not give you any install or driver discs AT ALL... That's something I'd expect from a complete know-nothing self proclaimed tech support stooge... So apparently, that defines geek squad as well.

2) They use cheap generic parts and do not list the full or real specs of almost anything in many of their builds. You buy something with a discrete graphics card for gaming, and find out it's a dirt name brand with reference standards, with a dodgy tin rated power supply, and who knows what horrible tweaks under the hood. They will mention 1 or 2 good parts and fill the rest with garbage... Why would you want garbage mixed in with good parts? WHY BESTBUY, WHY?!?!

3) Building something yourself would honestly save MORE than just the few hundred markup... The better quality parts would make the whole shabang better in general.

Honestly, I'd say if you don't want to bother building a rig, you are probably going to get a better general gaming experience out of a console or something, perhaps a steambox even.

Bestbuy prebuilts, or, any prebuilts really... Are generally just throw-a-way PC's that people with disposable income or on business budget accounts will purchase on a biannual cycle. They are more for general tasking than anything that an enthusiast would expect.

If you go that route, expect plenty of annoyances and headaches. Probably end up spending money on geek squad bozo's to clown their way around in your rig because you don't know what went into it.

PS warranties are a scam. All the parts are covered by manufacturer warranties, paying bestbuy a few hundred extra to make a phone call for you is stupid. Just be sure to register your parts serial numbers when you get them with the manufacturers... Oh, and of course, best buy doesn't give you these, so you will have to dismantle the case and look at the parts because the geek idiots threw away all the boxes/warranties/manuals/discs... What a bunch of freaking noobs.

Have any techie friends, if so many would prob be happy to help for free just for the experience, it's not rocket science, my kids both started building at the same time (they were 5 and 7 at the time), the older one(almost 20 years later) is running an IT dept for the AF (he's a civilian)
