Hi guys, I'm new to the website. I been wanting to build a new pc for gaming/everyday use. Been out of the computer scene for about 10 years so i have been researching a lot before build. This is an awesome website for info so i had to sign up and see what you guys thought. im trying to keep my budget between $1000-$1400. pcpartpicker.com says everything is compatable, but working on cars a lot i know sometimes such references are wrong. i just want to know if the components i got picked out are good or if you have a better suggestion, as long as its around the same price. Also if you know of any clearance issues. the only thing im not sold on is the graphics card. i wanted a sapphire r9 280x toxic, but thanks to bit/lite coin mining they are to overpriced for me. i appreciate your opinions greatly. well heres my specs: CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($229.96 @ OutletPC)

jeremyp79 is correct. A lot of problems have came up with those SSD's.

Samsung EVO or Pro. So far from the reviews of the v300's, most are saying that the newer ones are slower. Others are saying this is because they switched from Synchronous NAND to Asynchronous NAND. I have no idea what that means, but it is enough to cause huge performance drops. Kingston is denying this.

I was looking at the asrock extreme4 as well. its a bit cheaper. picking the mobo i think was the hardest decision to make, i looked at the asrock extreme4 and 6, the msi in op, the asus maximus hero, and a gigabyte one as well. I want a good quality mobo with the features i need, mainly being able to connect to the parts i selected and good for oc'ing. but at the same time its hard to tell what features are unnecessary. as far as ssd goes i figures that one of those things i can add later. also what do you guys think of a pny gtx 770 4gb. i looked them up and reviews are all over the place but i found one for $340.

also i should mention that i only plan on using a single monitor at 1080p probably 60 hz. So was wondering if i could go cheaper on the graph card but still be able to use high to ultra settings on most newer games. with recent price hikes on gpus its hard to tell whats a decent price and whats inflated. I looked at the sapphire r9 280x toxic in january and found it for $280 and thought it was a steal but now they going for $450-$600. I like them but not for double MSRP. Also the psu i selected is 750W, was wondering if thats a problem read some post that said to high a psu can causse problems but wasnt sure what kind or if they even do cause probs. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

With a 750, you have the option of adding a second card down the road. I would personally stick with it. As for going with a lower graphics card, I really wouldnt. With the budget you have, there is no reason to go any lower. A gtx 760 would give pretty decent peformance, but wouldnt be able to run everything on ultra like a gtx 770 can.

And bitcoin miners have driven the US amd prices through the roof, and the 280x and gtx 770 have virtually the same performance, within a couple of fps on nearly everything. The 770 is more power effecient, and quieter though.

I would recommend the gtx 770, the prices have been up on amd gpus for about 4 months, and have shown no sign of coming down. Again, the gtx 770 will offer nearly identical performance, and you can get the evga superclocked for about 340 on newegg, with a MIR. Seems like a pretty simple choice to me, but I've always been kind of partial to Nvidia/EVGA

yea, i see where your coming from but hard to choose with so much talk about amds upcoming mantle. dont know if a big thing or just another marketing ploy seems to depend on whom you talk to. so no to the pny, was considering because of the 4gb ram on it. pny reviews all over the place same with whether 2 gb is enough with some saying certain games do better with 3 gb.

I don't see mantle doing so much, Direct X's team have already begun work on re-writing their works to a similar fashion as Mantle, lowering CPU over-head and what not. I'd personally give Mantle a few months before it's beaten back by Direct X and gets scrapped, unless Direct X fail to do what they want.

Also, I personally think going with the 4gb would be better in the long term as it seems games are going to start requiring 3GB or more (Titanfall for example requires 3GB of GDDR5 minimum to play on ultra.)

ok. thanks for the comments guys. I was pretty sure on the build. But I think im going to change to the xtreme 4 and hyper 212, and the xfx 550w. looks about an 80 dollar savings according to pcpartpicker but im still going to look around to make sure they arent any better deals. BTW is there any websites you guys would recommend to stay away from when buying pc parts?

generally, I'd stick to the sites that're linked to PcPartPicker. They're generally the best ones with the best deals. Especially Newegg.

Outlet PC is seeming to be the place to go for you as most of the items are going on cheapest there with a reasonable deal (generally a $10 rebate)
