Laptop hard drive in a desktop

I took the 500gb sata hard drive out of my laptop and screwed it to the case of my desktop. I connected it to a molex and the sata Port on the mobo. Is this an ok set up? It starts and accesses the drive just fine so far, but I don't want to kill my hard drive

yes this is fine the hard drive will pull the power it needs and i have also done this since i just use my laptops till they die of old age
i have about 2 laptop hard drives in my desktop
