Hello,

I have an Asus M4A87TD EVO Mobo and a AMD Phenom II x4 cpu with 2X4gb of GSkill F3-12800CL9Q-16GBRL DDR3-1600 ram I installed a while back (without researching it much). When I installed the ram, it would not run with 4 sticks but did run with just the 2 sticks installed in the same channel.

I don't think I had issues when I first installed the memory, however, as of late my system has been freezing and I've been getting a blue screen saying: Windows ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error information and the we'll restart for you.(0% complete) The error also lists: INTERUPT EXCEPTION NOT HANDELED. And it freezes on that screen without restarting.

After checking my mobo's manual I see the memory isn't listed as supported. In fact, no memory sticks above 2gb are listed in the QVL. Could this be the source of the issue?

Thanks,

Alex

this is on g-skill for your motherboard http://www.gskill.com/en/configurator?manu=29&chip=48&model=259 [Ripjaws] F3-12800CL9Q-16GBRL so i would check if your bios need update and what are the timings of them also the voltages ,you could also try the second set in in the working channel and do the same with the one that is on the system now last option will be memtest for all memory stick one at the time .

I updated the bios to the most recent from the ASUS website. It was still freezing. I ran the Windows memory checker and it passed. After that, I shut down and pulled the CMOS battery and one of the sticks of ram leaving only 1 4gb stick remaining. Now I've been running for about an hour with no issues. Unfortunately, I gave away the two sticks of ram that wouldn't work with my system originally so I have no replacement for the stick that doesnt seem to be working.

Is there a good way to confirm that the stick i removed is faulty?
