The computer I need to image will not boot to the Acronis True Image Home 11 boot disk I made. But it will boot to a Win 7 installation DVD, a Hiren's CD and an UBCD. Meanwhile, three other computers will boot to the same Acronis boot disk. Thats kinda not possible. What sorcery is this?

And in the middle of that, I seem to have deleted the partition on my USB thumb drive and I cant find a tool to restore it so I can get to my files..

I am burning in a lake of fire in tech HELL...Mommy?

sounds like your getting trolled really hard, but for the most part, your making errors, you should always keep a backup of files you need on more then one device, that's if you you only have those files on one device.

Lesson: If you delete something from a USB, you will NEVER be able to recover it as it has permanently been erased, with recovery, your trying to recover data from a drive that may not be working anymore, and those files weren't erased, there still on there.

I have Mozy backups and I have local backups of the files on that PC. I imaged the new installation of the OS and apps with Acronis so when this happened, I wouldnt have to go through reinstalling Windows and all the drivers and all the apps and all the updates. Everything is as planned - I have a good Acronis .tlb image to use, and a working boot CD to apply it with. The fact that the boot CD is acting as I have described makes absolutely zero sense! and is bordering on the paranormal.

The thumb drive that I use as a utility drive, - add files, copy files, move files, delete files etc is the equivalent of a digital scratchpad. To my knowledge, I did not delete any files from it. But when Windows all of a sudden says it needs to be formatted and Recuva says it doesnt recognize the file system, that leads me to believe that something happened to the partition and my files are all still there, just inaccessible at this time. Recovering the partition and regaining my files is not rocket surgery, I just cant seem to make it happen. Paragon's Rescue Kit says it does just that but it wont cooperate.

Both these issues are taxing my emotional stability since at least the first one sounds like Black Ju Ju if not both of them.
