hello guys i have been having an annoyance, some sort of grindy noise is coming out of my pc, it like in the graphics card power supply area, everything is working perfect its just really annoying, im not sure if it is what you call coil whine its not a high pitched noise its a lower noise and sounds like a ruffish grindy kind of like when a disc drive is loading a disc but with a stutter, i just want to know if this will harm anything, also the noise is kind of quite when playing and browsing but gets louder when booting and shutting down, i just wana know if anybody knows what this is, THANKS GUYS!!!!

Well you could have a noisy coil in your PSU, however it shouldn't sound like grinding. Usually a whining or buzzing noise. In and of itself a noisy coil isn't a problem unless something is failing causing a large power draw through the coil making it whine. If it's just a noisy coil, then you have to ask yourself if you can live with the noise. If the answer is no, then by all means RMA. If you can live with the noise, keep and eye on it, if it gets worse, RMA it.

I'm surprised that you can hear the noise with a closed case and all you fans running. It must be quite loud, or the computer is very close to your head, or you are particularly sensitive to that frequency.

I must reiterate that grinding noise are caused by moving...
Those types of noises from your computer are never good. Since you think it's coming from near your PSU and graphics card, I'd check that the fans in both are spinning OK. You can also shut down and attempt to manually spin them. They should turn relatively freely there are magnets inside them, so it will resist somewhat until you get to the other side of the resistance and then it will spring forward to the next step on its own.

If it's not this, do you have a DVD, CD in your ODD? If there is, the sound you could be hearing is the drive spinning up and down which can be quite loud.

If not this, listen carefully near your HDD. The reason I am pointing you here is 1: it's the most scary and potentially dangerous place for that noise to be coming from, 2: Its worse while booting up and shutting down.

If you think it's the HDD, check to make sure the screws holding it in the bay are tight. If they're loose, the noise could be a sort of buzzing noise due to vibration. If it's actually coming out of the HDD itself, backup your data soon.

Let us know if any of these are your problems.

also it is nowere near as bad as in the video its not really that loud it only when shutting down and sort of when booting

Have you checked your graphics card fan(s) and your PSU fan(s). If its not these, there is another possibility.

Do you use some software to control your fan profile on your graphics card. The reason I ask, is that while booting and until the software starts after boot, the fan will run as per the profile on it's ROM (video card BIOS), and when shutting down, when the software shuts down, the card will revert control back to the video card BIOS. If you have software controlling it and it's set to run lower than the video card BIOS, you could be hearing it run at a faster speed before the software takes control and after it releases it.
