Hello guys,
I need some help.
I have a half damaged laptop hdd which cant boot windows at all. I bought a hdd enclosure recently and it works. Storage capacity shows 50% of what it originally was but I cant find any files on it.
Is there any way I could recover my files, my os or even format it to be used as an internal drive again?
Kindly help me out. TYSM.

Solution
Don't use a damaged drive again, if it's actually damaged. You can try to run Recuva and see if it sees anything, also Testdisk to see if the partition can be restored.

A drive tester software can do a disk scan to test the disk, the drive vendor should have something for you.

For a new laptop or a new hard-drive? As long as you can run a disk check on a hard drive you can find used laptop drives over 100 gig for $30-40. Just make sure you can run a scan on it using the vendor disk check utility.

a new hard drive and new windows key would cost about 200 bucks. Replacing my 5 yr old laptop would be a good idea.

You don't need a new Windows key if you are replacing the hard drive, you can re-use the one installed now, even if it's an OEM license.
