I plan on buying a 850 watt or even a 1000 watt power supply to support my 8 core amd, 32 gb motherboard with a 4gb ddr5 graphics card. it says the minimum is 500 watts for a power supply, if i ever wanted to put 2 cards in there with the same wattage, would i actually need to purchase a 1000 watt + power supply? Just trying to plan a little ahead into the future.

What is the exact GPU? And you need to know the output of the 12v rail from the PSU to know how much you should be getting? Dont judge PSUs based on wattage alone.

EDIT: Is there a response coming before you select the best answer?

The GTX 760 has a minimum PSU req of 500w and 30a on the 12v rail, the HX850 provides 850w and 70a on the 12v rail which will be enough to SLI the 760 later on in the future. I'd definitely go with the corsair hx850, the other PSU that you linked falls well into the do not buy list of PSUs. Yes the HX850 will support 2 of those graphics cards, though remember than when you SLI or Crossfire, the vram does not double as each GPU can still only utilize its own 4gb. Its a very common misconception, so even with 2 cards your total vram will still be 4gb, also if you're not gaming above 1080p or not doing multi monitor gaming, you would be okay picking up the 2gb versions as well.

ohh i see. i will always use one monitor. never been a fan of multi monitors. and i heard that most modern games dont even support 4 gb of gaming on a graphics card too ! :) and my motherboard will have 32 gb of ram, even though ive read ill only need 8 gb. but i dont mind this cuz i might do some other applications that might need more of power. video editing, server running. etc. you see i dont mind having a 4 gb card that costs 329 bucks, itll be the most expensive part in my building of the pc and i love the bragging rights even if i cant ultilize it yet hehehhehehehe. i love this page you guys are smart man
