Intel Rapid Storage always degrading

Hi,

I found myself in the position of having to reinstall Windows 7 this weekend. I was having RAID problems, which I have now solved.

When I first got this computer the RAID was constantly degrading. After extensive searching I discovered that there was a Registry key that, once edited, the degrading problem went away.

I believe it had something to do with a power setting, but alas, I haven't been able to find it, so I'm hoping someone here can help me.

Thanks,
James

Thank for for the suggestion. I had previously configured power management in exactly the way you suggested. I also did that with the original configuration pre-weekend disaster. I'm certain however, that I found it necessary to also tweak the registry. I'm kicking myself now for not having better documented the solution. I'm sure I bookmarked the page, but that doesn't do my much good when I lose all my data :(

If anyone is aware of the registry tweak I'd be grateful.

thanks,
James

I found what I was looking for at this link:

http://forum.crucial.com/t5/Solid-State-Drives-SSD/Solution-C300-Disk-Freeze-ups-in-Windows-7-solved-for-me/td-p/38766

Although it describes a different problem, it is the lpm registry settings which resolved my problem last time.

I'll be the first to admit that maybe if I upgraded the RAID drivers from Intel the problem would be fixed, but since I know this is the solution that worked I'm not going to fiddle with it.

I hope this might help someone else in the future.

James
