I have a drive with several partitions. One of the has Ubuntu installed in it. Can i just format the drive from windows?
Is it safe? I mean, will there be any mess up in boot files or anything related to that.

I'm sorry if i sound so noob. Just wanna make sure I will not mess things up.

You can but I'd argue that booting into a Linux live CD would be better and use GParted to format the Ubuntu partition and then use a Windows disc to repair the MBR to get rid of Grub or do you want to reuse the partition for another Linux distro?

haha weird I just logged on and it says you posted this a minute ago :)  anyway when you format the partition with GParted make sure to format it as NTFS so when you do boot back into Windows it can see the empty partition and then your Windows partition can reclaim it with the Windows partitioning tool.
