Hi there,
I'm building a new pc with an fx4300 and a gigabyte 970a mobo. As for gpu I was thinking for the hd7850. Assoon as I went to store though, to place the order they told me that the hd7850 is old (2 years or something) and that I should get the gtx750ti which brand new and really good. Are they right or they just tried to gain 40€ out of me? Should I make the change or not?

What the store is saying is correct in terms of age of the cards. Your 550w will be fine for either card.

The 750ti is the first of the new maxwell cards. (Performance with Low power consumption)

Unfortunately the 7850 beats the 750ti performance wise so the 7850 is the better card currently until the other Maxwell models are released (800 series) but... this is not going to happen until at least September at the earliest (more likely later) so as of today youre better off going with the cheapest 7850 you can find imo.

Once the other Maxwells are released these old style power hungry cards will all become worthless imo.

Well, if you already have a small PSU then grab the 750 Ti, the 7850 is a pretty darn good card, but power hungry xD

7850 vs 750 Ti is night and day in favor of the 7850, so that guy is on CRACK! xD Or he just wants his commissions, either one, I know how it is to sell PC parts xD

R7 260x runs like so in most games and such.

And the 270 is a bit better.

Also, old cards aren't bad, they are comparable, and even in some case worth the price/performance.

Actually for the record I made a mistake. Their price is almost the same so I guess his advice was not so for his ''benefit''. So you suggest I must stick with the 7850. 2 more questions. The 7850 is available only from saphire and gtx750ti from msi. This shouldn't affect my decision right? And the 2nd, is the 550w ok for the 7850?
