Rebuilding my PC, need some good old fashioned advice. (General advice, cooler.)

So, after building my first PC.

Windows 7
FX 6300
AsRock970 Extreme4
GTX 660ti
Corsair Vengence 2x4GB RAM
etc etc

I realized that CPU isn't cutting it for me, I'm getting stutter where I shouldn't be, changing display settings doesn't increase performance, yada yada. So, I'm now saving up for a CPU, I figured, no point in saving money and buying a lesser one that'll need replacing sooner and I've chosen to get a i7 4770k (One main reason is so I can play all my old PS2 discs since my PS2 died)

I've decided to get a i7 4770k (obviously) and a Gigabyte Z87X-D3H... but I have no clue what cooler to get (since it's apparently horrendous with temps on the stock cooler) I don't care for overclocking until it needs it, I just need to find a suitable cooler that'll allow it to go turbo with no worries. My case is a little small, so a large cooler like 212 evo or Noctua NH-D14 is probably out of the question.

So... any ideas on a cooler? Also, any advice for tending to it, never had an intel cpu before... well, to be fair, I've only ever had one PC.

Then look through the Be quiet coolers, they tend to be cheaper in your area - the brushed metal finish uptop on their Dark Rock coolers
http://www.bequiet.com/en/cpucooler/482
is also something much sought after in aesthetic conscious builders.

You could also go with their Dark Rock 3 or C1 coolers as well, however I have to stress, please make sure you have the height of the cooler and case figured out otherwise you'd need to keep you side panel open :) which might be the best place for kitties to go into for troll raiding :D

Edit:
seriously need to consider this;http://www.scan.co.uk/products/thermalright-ultra-120-extreme-intel-bp-120mm-heat-pipe-heat-sink-fan-intel-775-1155-1156-1366
for a price like that on a cooler like that...

I think we need some additional information before nailing the answer.

How much are you willing to spend?
What is your case(for any obvious restrictions)?

FYI - you can run your PS2 games vi an emulator, it has nothing of relevance with CPU horsepower. I've played GT2 on my IBM PC300GL without issues :)

Willing to spend around... £40.
My case is... unbranded, unnamed and not available any more as far as I know, can't really help you. It's medium width and kinda short, best I can describe it. Main restriction is the dumb idea to buy a large heatsinked RAM and it being a compact case so that the PSU is at the top. I'm thinking I'd be able to fit a slightly thinner, slightly small 212 evo.

My CPU craps out when playing anything higher than a PS1 emulator, sure, a cheaper CPU would be alright with a PS2 emulator, but might as well get the best (well, best without overspending) since I also want to play open world games and ports.

Medium and kinda short doesn't quite cut the cheese in these parts mate, we need dimensions.

Tell you what, Get yourself a ruler/measuring tape and see how much clearance you have between the mobo CPU socket area and the edge where the case panel sits flush
22544_corsair%20330r%20review%20-%20cpu%20cooler%20clearance.jpg

and secondly the space around your cpu socket area - fans and the likes,
Large%20(1%20of%208).jpg

If all of this is getting out of hand very quickly, I'd simply ask you to look into AIO coolers like the Hxxx series provided you have a 120mm fan mount available but considering the 4770K can run hot during Turbo mode, I'd definitely ask you to go no less than a 240mm AIO setup like an H100i or H105, if space is available.

You may also forgo a new cooler altogether by getting a new well built case like a Corsair 230T or the likes...cheaper and future proof investment if you'd ask me.

I found it, took a bit of work. http://www.amazon.co.uk/DESKTOP-COMPUTER-Galaxy-Bubble-Windows/dp/B005IDO352/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1393776033&sr=1-1&keywords=galaxy+3+pc+case BTW, it comes with a PSU but I haven't touched that, I replaced it rather quickly with a Corsair GS 600w.

From the pictures you shew me, it seems mine's shorter, but the same width, at least from eyesight, I'll try and find some tape measure now... although I'm not even sure I have some.

I would... but I don't trust liquid cooling. It's really gotta be air, less worries for me.

I honestly can't find a tape measure. Best I could find is "410 x 200 x 480mm (HxWxD)"

Any store is fine, even if it's not in the UK, I'll search for it in UK stores. Fine with any colors or fan options, I'll take what's given. xD

I'm still searching for the tape measure though, if you give me a few suggestions I'll compare them when I do get the tape measure.
