Hi guys. It's officially been about a decade since I've done a complete, ground up system build. It's been a couple years since I've done upgrades and when those upgrades were completed, value was more of a concern to me than performance. This being said, the wife is now agreeing to let me build an enthusiast machine.

I'm resolved on using my current choice of online retailer as I've ordered from them before and been happy with their service. Also, being from Canada, I don't want to face cross border fees importing from an American retailer.

Now, this is not a "money is no object" build. I'm just looking to get about the best performance I can get for around $2000.00. (CDN) I do intend to overclock as you can likely tell from the components and options used. I guess what I'm wondering is, if this looks like a good, balanced, overclockeable system.

Here are the components I've come up with.

CASE: N500-1149 ::NZXT Phantom Enthusiast Full Tower

PSU: XFX PRO Series 750W Power Supply - Modular, Single +12V Rails, 80+ Gold, High Reliable 105°C Japanese Capacitors, 120mm Fan (P1-750B-BEFX)

RAM: K24-9586 ::Kingston HyperX Beast KHX24C11T3K2/8X 8GB Memory Module Kit - 2400MHz, 2 x 4GB, DDR3, DIMM, CL11, XMP

VIDEO CARD: PNY GeForce GTX 770 Video Card - 2GB GDDR5, PCI-Express 3.0 (x16), 1x Dual-Link DVI-I, 1x Dual-Link DVI-D, 1x DisplayPort, 1x HDMI, DirectX 11.1, SLI Ready, Dual-Slot, Fan, - VCGGTX7702XPB

CPU COOLER: Cooler Master Seidon 240M Liquid CPU Cooler - 2x 120mm PWM Fan, Water Pump, 240mm Aluminum Radiator, Copper Cold Plate, - RL-S24M-24PK-R1

SYSTEM DRIVE: Crucial M500 Series 240GB SSD - 2.5" Form Factor, SATA III, Encryption Technology, Advanced Controller Technology, Adaptive Thermal Protection - CT240M500SSD1

STORAGE DRIVE: Seagate Desktop Solid State Hybrid Drives - 1 TB, 8 GB NAND Flash - ST1000DX001

MONITOR: B145-GL2450HM CA ::BENQ 24IN WIDE LED 5MS 2MS MONITOR

Plus about 100 bux for miscellaneous (ie: 8 pin cpu power cable extension, 2x 200mm case fans (blue led), cheapy logitech kb+mouse, wireless network card).

Thanks for any expertise and suggestions you can offer. :)

I should also stipulate that this is being built as a gaming rig.

What's the motherboard that's listed on the CPU+motherboard combo? I couldn't quite make it out but in overclocking, the more power phases it has [note 100% sure about the term], the better the chances of you getting a higher stable overclock on it.

Otherwise, It seems to be a really solid build. Good luck on your purchase!

Well, the mobo in the combo is just an Asus z87-A. Not really a high end board. I'm actually thinking of blowing the budget and getting Intel Core i5-4670K Processor and MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING Intel Z87 Motherboard Bundle. The bundle is about 180 bux more than the z87-a but it has a really nice feature set and will go in my red nzxt phantom full tower that I'm getting for this build.

Good choice. You're gonna live with that gaming rig for at least a year [unless you plan on doing another rig/upgrade down the road] so it's better to not have any regrets when you finally have your rig completed.
