I've been reading all over the Net about various motherboards & cpu's as I'm going to upgrade my rather old pc of approx 7 yrs old. I've decided on the AMD A10 6800K cpu and eventually narrowed down the choice of motherboard to Gigabyte GA-F2A88X-D3H.
I've read some reviews on some motherboard's where users have had a problem needing to update the bios before being able to their chosen CPU leaving them with the catch 22 situation of being unable to update the bios because they need the same/similar type of motherboard/cpu to do the update., obviously a problem if your using something completely different before the upgrade.

Will the above Gigabyte GA-F2A88X-D3H need the bios flashed/updated before being able to use the AMD A10 6800K cpu or can I just drop the cpu in and fire up the computer? after all other connections are done of course.

pcpartpicker doesn't see an incompatibility between the two, but, pcpartpicker isn't perfect sadly.

Worst comes to worst can you pickup a cheap CPU and pop it in to update the BIOS?

If not, I would think you'd be good to go.

The AMD A10 6800K, released June 4, 2013, is listed as being compatible since the original motherboard BIOS version F1.

Newegg advertises their motherboard as compatible with the latest FM2+ APUs:
(FM2+ Ready,supports FM2+/FM2 A Series APU's) - these require BIOS version F3 or higher.
