System specs please, motherboard, CPU, etc.

Is this card new to your system or has it been working in the system and then just stopped.

Check to make sure you've plugged in your PCI-e power connector(s).

You should go into your BIOS and see if there is a place to disable the onboard graphics or select the boot display device to discrete card rather than IGFX.

More details will help us narrow this down.

OK bear with me I'm on a slow satellite connection. It'll take awhile to grab your MB manual.

While it's downloading, could you answer a couple questions?

1. Is this card new to your system?

2. Are the PCI-e power connector(s) plugged in?

3. Do you get anything on the display when you plug your monitor into the graphics card (during POST not in Windows)?

Man GigaBytes website is garbage. First attempt to download, got traditional chinese, oh well must have accidentally clicked the wrong link, second time same thing.

However at least the titles are in english. Try going into your BIOS and under the Peripherals tab find Init Display First. Select PEG save and reboot.

Of course you'll want your monitor plugged into the graphics card.

Number 2 may be the problem because my GPU has one six pin and one eight pin do i need to plug in both eight and six or just eight or six

Hi - You need to plug in two pcie connectors - 1 6pin & the other might be 1 6 or 1 8pin. Most 7870's take 2 6pin pcie connectors.

You can see the 8pin is actually 6+2, so you can use the 8pin as a 6pin. I believe your 7870 requires 2 6pin pcie's.

You most definitely have to plug in both PCI-e power connectors. In my first post, I said:

Check to make sure you've plugged in your PCI-e power connector(s).

If there not both plugged in, this is most likely your problem.
