I don't know what to look for. I know I need ddr3 and I want 2x4 gb. Also 1600 or higher. What else is there to look at? Like voltages or timing? What would be best for my build. M5a97 3 2.0 fx 8320 msi gtx 760 tf corsair 600w modular.

just make sure your RAM is compatible with the motherboard, easiest way to do that is to go the memory manufacturer's website (such as Corsair, G. Skill, etc.) and use their Memory finder/configurator program/app. All you do is tell it what motherboard you have (or will be using) and it will list all the compatible memory they make. Get the highest speed with the lowest timings you can afford (just make sure the motherboard will work at that speed).

From that link, in the middle of the page, click the 'memory/device" grey box, I believe you'll see 4 entries, the top one (a PDF file/download) will be the memory they recommend. (it doesn't give me a direct link)
