How far will an 1800 DB Router Cover

About how many square feet will an 1800 DB router reach? I am thinking of buying a Belkin router ( http://www.belkin.com/us/F9K1118-Belkin/p/P-F9K1118/ ) for a 1400 sq ft house. Would this reach through the whole house with a decent signal/speed? Thanks in advance for your help.

Generally the number that is used is 100ft radius. So if you put it in the center of your house it should in theory cover it all. The "theory" part is what makes wireless tough. It really depends what the walls of the house are made of and even what type of wall coverings are used. Metallic paint does a excellent job of blocking signals.

I know nothing about that particular belkin router but if you are buying mostly on price the TP-link archer c7 router is cheaper and is well liked. They will likely have similar coverage areas since most routers transmit at the legal maximum and small differences in routers will be overshadowed by the specifics of your house.

Be aware 802.11ac actually has less coverage than 802.11n running...
There are so many external factors that affect radio signal propagation that it's impossible to tell without a detailed analysis of the operating environment. If you have trouble just try relocating the device to different places in the house. You can probably get some free radio signal strength software from the internet and check the signal strength from different locations on a wirelessly connected laptop.

Be aware 802.11ac actually has less coverage than 802.11n running on 2.4g because 802.11ac only runs on 5g and it has less ability to penetrate walls. You also need 802.11ac adapters to take advantage of it.

802.11ac is mostly to give you more speed not more coverage and the speed is only for use INSIDE your house because you are limited by your ISP to what you pay for.
