Whats the difference with all these versions of gskill and what matches up best with a Haswell build. I read the Amandtech post on testing ram for a Haswell chip. I reason between a 1866-2400 at 9 cas latency is my best bet for price. How though are moders choosing between these group of models when across the board there could 6 variations of cas 9, 1866.. in the sniper, trident, ripjaws series. Given that there is dual and quad channels and differences in 2gb 4 gb 8 gb. but is there any guidance someone can give me on how to decide between those I listed or a recommendation for this build:

Finishing my current build with theses specs

New Build
Processor: Haswell I7-4770K
Motherboard: Gigabyte 1150 G1 Sniper eatx board
Power supply: Corsair RM Series 1000 Watt ATX/EPS 80PLUS Gold-Certified

Disucssion or solutions welcome, spent three weeks off and on deliberating

GSkill has released various series of models over the years, the Ripjaws were a early model the Ripjaws X cam e out aimed at the 1155/P67-Z68, Ripjaws Z a little oriented towards true quad channel and the X79 platform, Snipers were somewhat General sticks that are very strong, Ares again are basically general sticks, the Trident X line was released during the Ivy Bridge era in lower freq, though aimed towards Haswell, the higher freq Trident X weren't released until the release of Haswell....I've run most of the GSkill models on my Haswell (Asus Hero/4770K in sig) and among a wide variety of 1150 mobos from client builds and have found the Trident X and Snipers to be the best w/ Haswell, all have OC room. Have seen some good Corsair sets also, but not quite as strong across the board as the Tri's

Dear Tradesman

I am assembling my new rig and is still wondering between GSkill Sniper series vs Trident X

My Z97 mobo is Maximus VII Hero
My CPU I54690K

I am looking for 8 (4X2) Dual channels Kit of GSkill but worried about RAM voltage on this motherboard
should I chose 1.5 or 1.65 for stability and avoiding possible BSOD
Kindly advise me which one shall I get Sniper which is optimized for gaming or Tirdent X which new and might be more efficient on Z97 mobos

Tridents are my favorites on Z97, better performance - more OC headroom and 1.65 is perfectly safe with these sticks. Tridents have been my #1 choice going back to their release around May of 2012, that's when I upgraded my Z77 from 2133 RJs to the Trident 2400 set (in sig), great sticks ;)
