What will happen if i put too many power?help

hi guys i have an intel pentium dualcore-e5200 a geforce 210 2gb ddr2 ram and a dvd-rom/rw+ which is running on stock 250w psu i was wondering if i can put a OCz 600w gold+ modular supply i read some threads that if put too high power the system will die
can you help me i cant get another psu cuz this is awesome psu and i rebated from 120e to 40 so i cant get another one
can you help me because i want to upgrade cpu/ram/and gpu
will it be fine or it will kill my system?

No, but if you draw more power than the psu can handle, it would shut down. You'll be fine with a 600W psu, but there's no reason to get one unless you're drawing that much power with 2+ gpu

You can never damage your system with a too high PSU wattage. All that will happen is that it will not be very power efficient, PSU are most efficient at around 50% load.

you can put in a gpu that's a lot better than a hd5770

keep in mind that you are limited by your other components as well in terms of performance or gaming
