I'm looking to put together a list of PC components to purchase once i get my next paycheck, I'm putting a budget of £600-700 towards building a new gaming computer as the one i'm currently using, I've had since 2007.

There's only one problem.. I've never built a gaming computer and i understand very little about the hardware, I'm basically after a system that is able to play the current gen games on the highest setting possible with the allotted budget, being able to record game play while being a plus, isn't a necessity if it is going to push my budget up a lot more.

Could someone with more knowledge on this subject please provide any recommendations for me? Putting the PC together won't be a problem, as a lot of people tell me its really not hard, and after looking at some guides on the internet, it seems very straightforward, but the hardware part, I'm completely stumped!

Edit: Forgot to mention that i won't be needing the peripherals, monitor, keyboard & mouse i have, I will need an Operating system and Anti-virus, so i'll be going for Win7 & AVG.

Pretty much everything isn't reusable, it's all so old, the only new thing in my computer was a power supply i bought to replace the last one that blew, however i would like to keep my current computer just as an external storage device.

Everything else has been the same since i bought it, minus an extra slot of ram that i purchased around 2012.

Also thank you very much for the speedy reply!

I know this is £20 over but if you want you can take out the CPU cooler, you do get one with the CPU although it isn't very good it will do the job if you don't overclock. Google some of the parts if you want and look at some reviews/benchmarks and see what you think :)
