First question:

Which is the best fan controller?

Second question:

Will a fan controller run fine if i have multiple fans on one cable? For example, a splitter cable that goes from four fans to a single link?

Due to my build having quite a few fans, this is sort of important because i sort of need to know if i need more than one fan controller.

As so, the best is the on-board. The thing I don't like about fan controllers is they all rely on thermoprobes that you have to place on key components and areas of your PC and tape them down to get the fan's to know the temps to turn up or down. If the probe comes off, it doesn't know the temp and won't ramp up. Also, you can place a probe in the CPU heatsink (if you don't have a water cooler) but that's not the core temp, that's the heatsink temp.

At the most, I would let the motherboard control the CPU fans and case fan's on a controller.

Mainly, the reason i am looking for a fan controller is mainly to do with sound. I will really use it to turn the fans to max if they dont make too much noise, or use the fan controllers to vary fan speed so that they dont make too much noise if they are too loud.

I will monitor temperatures using third party and on board software.

I'm also not very familiar with using the mobo's on board fan controllers, especially for an unfamiliar mobo such as the Rampage 4. And with the number of fans i predict my new build will have, i doubt even a mobo as large as the Rampage 4 has enough fan connections.

And correct me if i am wrong but i dont think the mobo would be able to identify separate fans if i used a splitter cable.
