**Note that during this time, my keyboard does not work and I cannot hit any keys to bring me anywhere else.**
I opened up the computer and quickly noticed that there wasn't a hard drive inside. Thinking this was likely the problem, I connected a spare hard drive of mine containing a Windows 7 installation. I hit the power button again, but the screen read the same as before.
I did a bit of research and saw a suggestion on taking out the CMOS battery for 5 minutes, then replacing with a new one. Tried that and got the same result.
The computer is a Compaq Presario SR1430NX.
A chip on the motherboard reads: ASUS A8000 D0440 A2L1410 8H110732A (but I can’t find any information of this type online).
My next course of action is to try burning a disk with a BIOS recovery file. But I want to hold off on that until I hear back from the community. Will this even work or is it worth a shot? Where can I find a BIOS Recovery file?
Is this the correct file to burn onto a disk? Can I burn it on a DVD-R? Or does it need to be on a CD-R? I don't know what to rename it and there doesn't seem to be a user guide/instructions on what to rename it.
