Hey guys, i need a bit of help here...
about to upgrade video card, but have few concerns.
First here are my specs you will probably need.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 w/ Bel Mod 3ghz
8 gb pc2-6400 ram
650w psu with Two(2) 6-pin & One(1) 8-pin plug available.
Budget= up to $400ish US.
and i need the card to be 9.5 inches or less in length.
Thank You in Advance.
Also, 1600x900 or 1600x1050 will be my max resolutions, so if i can play completely maxxed at those resolutions that's fine, meaning i don't HAVE to peg the $400.00 mark if a card under that will max out in that resolution area. Well leave wiggle room upto 1080p resolution and maybe beyond, but i wont be doing multiple monitors and i don't really plan to do a major monitor upgrade anytime soon.

Well I would highly recommend you save up a little more and upgrade that processor as well, any card that is relatively high-end will have bottlenecking issues with that. You could go AMD and get a 6320 with a cheap-ish motherboard and still have enough left over for a decent graphics card, or go with something like an i5-3570K and decent Z77 motherboard and have to spend more in the end to get the same GPU, but have more CPU power. I would upgrade that processor first though.

well, GPU for now, when taxes come in that's when the cpu build will come into play, i can always take the gpu i get now and put it into that future build. For the games i've been playing, i haven't had a game bottle neck due to cpu yet. Thank You for your advice btw :]...on a side note, even with gpu bottlenecking, i don't think it will perform lower that the GT 620 that's in it now....

ok, i've been looking into a lot that you have said APCS13, i think you have me on board, not talking about a gpu, what would you recommend for a CPU,MB+ram in the $650.00 range???

and i'm not totally changing subjects here, if someone has an answer to my original question, would be appreciated.

Okay, valid point about the GT 620 and your current hardware. Here are 3 basic options for you:
1. Get a really good GPU and nothing else
2. Get a decent GPU and a decent CPU and mobo
3. Get a killer CPU and mobo and nothing else

Which option would you like me to help you with? Also keep in mind that if you do want to upgrade the CPU and motherboard we may also have to see if your RAM is compatible with the new hardware.

what about something like this maybe for my base http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1461039 , and maybe a 200.00 ish video card? i'm not up on all the different varieties of cpu's now, i know some are good for multi-media. some for casual computing, but maybe one multicore may fall short over another in the same price bracket, it seems like AMD will get more bang for my buck, but i'm kind of lost on all the different options.

i'm up for any option in the 650.00 range. i would like to get most bang for my buck. i am a single dad and i can't put all my money into this, i'm not a hardcore gamer, it's more of my escape, but i do want a quality system when i do decide to sit down an play. Basically if you were in my shoes with that budget, what would you start with...specifically, if you find combo's , or piece by piece n a place to buy, shoot over some links... Also, thank you for your time and effort!!
