Hi, I'm assembling a new Rig, please suggest a suitable PSU for the following configuration:

Intel 3.5 GHz LGA 1150 4770 i7 4th Generation Processor
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Cooler
Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H Motherboard
2x(Kingston HyperX DDR3 8 GB RAM)
Samsung 840 Pro Series 256GB 2.5" SSD
2x(Sapphire R9 280x)
Cooler Master CM STORM SCOUT 2 Cabinet

Thank You :)

Looks like 750-850w would be plenty for this computer.

Those manufacturers numbers are very inflated vs. what the cards actually draw.

Would 850W really do the job, because the individual requirement for each card is 750W each.

Yeah, I'd be fine with anything 750W+; you're not OCing the CPU.

Second link in my sig is helpful.

I'd be looking at one of these, or these if you want a modular one.

The 280x only pulls 241w under full load.

A 550w unit would EASILY run a system with a single 280x.

Yes, I was responding to the guy above me. 750w is plenty for 2 of them in crossfire.

For a SINGLE card, 550w is plenty. He said 750w was needed for a single card which is false.

Well that surely is a relief then coz its saves me from alot of expense... coz here in India almost all the 1000W PSUs are all above $260.. and my budget has already shrunken, so if an 850W is sufficient then should i go for Corsair CX-850, its economic also, otherwise there's Antec HCG 900 also?

I wouldn't get a CX because Corsair cheaped out a bit on the caps.

I'll go have a look.

I would not get a CX unit from Corsair. They are made with low quality capacitors. I would take a high quality 750w unit over that 850w cx corsair unit.

The Antec HCG series is VERY good.

Even a 500W would be OK (unless you're running an OCed Vishera chip or something) (EDIT: For a single 280X. No way for CF).

This is a bloody awesome PSU: http://www.flipkart.com/seasonic-m12ii-750-750-watts-ps...

thats for a single 280x....
so for CF i should go with Antec HCG 900.. any other suggestion?

900w is overkill. 750w would be plenty for CF. That Seasonic unit is VERY good.

Yup, the M12II would be fine for 280X CF on a Haswell chip.

Didn't you just say not at all for CF a couple of minutes ago? :??:

If thats true then 2 draw 480 watts + processor 87 watts at stock + mb , hard drives , fans

If you are using anything less than 850 watts you are probably running the psu too hard . Far better it peaks at 60 - 70 % load . Then it lasts and it doesnt sound like a vacuum cleaner

I said that the 'Even a 500W would be OK' bit was for a single card.

The 750W M12II is fine for a pair of them.

Actually, it's very uncommon for the whole machine to be at 100% all at the same time. You'll find that those figures are the sort of furmark+IBT numbers, which never get seen in the real world.

You'll have a hard time convincing me that the mobo, HDDs, and fans can hit ~250W (what's needed to get the 567W GPUs+CPU up to ~850W).

Ok I understand, you mean to say that even if 2 GPUs take up 480W even then also the total wattage needs suming up the rest of the components won't be so much that i might need an 850W PSU, right?

Yup. 480W max for GPUs, ~90W max for CPU, then ~50W for the rest of the system. You'll be fine.
