I'm trying to connect my PS3 to an EPSON PowerLite EMP 7900. I've tried an HDMI cable to an HDMI->DVI converter to DVI in on the projector and I get a black screen (not a blue screen with no signal). Is there a way to do this? There are also BNC 5 cable inputs on projector, and I have a cable with BNC5 but it is VGA (looking) on the other end of the cable so not sure how that could connect to the PS3. Is this possible without a huge investment? I can get composite video to work fine using the sony composite to the yellow rca input, but the projector handles higher resolution and I'm trying to use that. I've looked all over and read lots of different things about HDCP and analogue vs. digital. I'm really confused. Can anyone help?

It sounds like your PS3 is set to display SD instead of HD. I remember having this problem with mine, it should be in your video settings in the PS3 itself. You dont have to worry about HDCP as long as you're not trying to split of to a secondary monitor as well. Oh yes and an obvious one is make sure youre on the right input :)

Yep, tried all the resetting steps in that, and no luck. If I set display to HDMI output the screen goes black. If I set to composite it goes blue (no signal). I read something on a forum about the HDMI cable being too long...mine is 12'. Can that really affect it? I also read something about HDCP. The projector is about 6 years old...is there a way to find out if that is affecting it?

Some HDMIS are directional, are you sure the HDMI is a good cable, not Monoprice or such? Try using another source with an HDMI output like a Blu-ray player or phone. It will be easier narrowing down the problem.
