Will an AMD FX-9590 work on an ASUS Crosshair V Formula (it is not a Crosshair V Formula-Z)

Solution
With the FX-9590 it is all about the mothersboards ability to deliver the required power.
Stick with a board that is officially listed that it can handle that CPU

I have the same borad but with a 9370 drawing 225 watts of power. Works great. You see these are just chery picked 8350' s
With less overhead room to over clock. And you can get a 8350 to clock over 5 ghz(if you get a good one)

Are you trying to overclock a 9590? Well you won't get much more out of it before it becomes unstable because the 9590 is just a factory overclocked 8350 to 4.7Ghz (5 with turbo). The only difference is that the 9590 chip is of better quality than a regular 8350 (though you do get some good ones that can do the same).

I know that this is an old post but this can be valuable for someone. I run this set up mobo crosshair V formula(not formula z) cpu fx9590 in turbo mode (5ghz) custom water cooling with one 4x120 rand and one 2x120 rad case tj11 bios 1703 and it works fine with max temp 34degrees

Hi, I just ordered this and haven't updated my bios yet but I was wondering if you ran into any issues setting it up. Did you have to tweak voltages or anything? I'm currently running the Crosshair V Formula (not Z) with 16GB ddr3, 680W psu, Win 7 64bit, GTX 760. I got a h100i liquid cooling to go with it too. I know I might need to upgrade to a 1000W psu but I ran the numbers and shouldn't need more than 520W but I'm prepared for that at least. Just wasn't sure if I should expect to make some tweaking. Thanks.

Both 9370 and 9590 identified correctly and stable on my original crosshair v with last bios. Some believe it is the best board for these cpus
