This is my first time building a pc and I wanted somthing to work on (adobe applications,VMware workstation, make 10-15min youtube videos) and game on (mainly fps but occasional rpg). My budget is $1200 but I can push it to $1300 if needed. This is my build so far http://pcpartpicker.com/p/339MV , I do not plan on overclocking right away, It may be somthing i look into in a couple years but I got the K cpu just so i can have that option avalibale to me. Also as you can notice I dont have a graphics card and a power supply picked out yet. I was thinking of going with the Asus GTX 660 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121660 or the MSI N660 TF http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127699 sence they both match the color scheme. I was wondering if the 660 models would be good for what i want to do? or what should i look into instead? Also within 3 years i plan on running whatever graphics card i get in SLI. I was told that nvidia gpu's work best with adobe products which is why im leaning twords them. If you have any questions, suggestions or anything information helping me decide on things please let me know.

I know this pushes you to $236 over budget but you'll be happier:

It's something to strive for. I'll work on something closer to your listed budget later and update.

This one is only $96 over budget and keeps more of the same components as you originally selected:

Here I only upgraded the gpu and monitor and added the AX760 psu.

The Asus vs MSI versions are about the same for the GTX 760:

The Asus benchmarked better in a few spots but actual game fps were identical except in Hitman when overclocked the Msi had 2fps better (insignificant).

In case you're wondering why I recommend the 760 over the 660:

Plus when you sli down the road you will see substantial gains there too. I'd really like for you to get the gtx 770 but I don't know how far past $1300 you really wanted to go. Hope this all helps! Have fun!

If you were to consider something without the red scheme, this setup would be great and you'd get the most bang for your buck:

One stick of 8GB on purpose as tiled resources are coming this fall (uses more system memory) and it would be nice to just spend $70-$80 and have that 2nd stick added on to give you a net 16GB down the road should you ever need it. I usually recommend dual channel or getting quad channel from the get go when you can but this gives you greater flexibility. Compatibility is tougher outside of kits but to make it your best bet get the same exact stick if and when you do if you go this route.

Thanks,

Justin S.
