FPS dropping months after building

Hey folks.
I built this system a few months ago, and the last couple of days I've noticed my FPS has dropped quite a bit. WoW went from 75-80 FPS down to 60-70. It's a small drop, but it's making me mad that I can't figure out what did it. The only thing that's changed is adding a second monitor. Could that cause that big of a drop? It's the same brand as my other one. The primary is hooked up to DVI and the secondary is on the HDMI.

System specs below. None of the drivers are out of date according to SlimDrivers. The GPU temp sits at 60-65c with one game running and a couple of browser tabs open. I'm still fairly new to hardware issues, so any help would be lovely.

Yeah I think the second monitor is it. Try it with a single monitor and a dual monitor with WoW and some other games that you play. That way you have more data to see what is going on with your frames per second.

Nice build.

I did unhook the secondary monitor, but it didn't seem to do much. FPS went up a hair, but nothing to write home about. I'll try opening up the case and giving it a thorough clean tomorrow.

And thanks for the compliments. The lovely Tom's community helped me with the part selection :) It runs anything I throw at it so far.

Hi, yes, the performance is reduced by adding another monitor because it will need to produce frames for that screen too. (more frames to that monitor = reduced fps in main monitor).

Have you turned your PC in power saving mode by any means? That will significantly reduce performance. If not, make sure you have it set for "high performance" in the control panel. Control panel > System and maintenance > Power alternatives (or something similar) then turn it to High performance, or max performance, whatever is written.

Everything is at high performance. Windows 8 has this awesome bug where it doesn't want to wake up if the HD goes to sleep, so everything is set to never turn off. I'm thinking I might have a little dust. I opened the case today to take a look, and it's a bit dusty in there. Hopefully cleaning it out will do it. I did get 5ish more frames with the other monitor turned off tho.

How long has it been since it last was turned off? Might as well be the source of the problem.

Is there a solution to this bug? Have you searched for it? Could you reinstall windows?
