I recently unplugged my speakers and cleaned them, and plugged them back in last night. Today, I turned on the computer and the microphone is not working.
So far what I can tell you is that my microphone is plugged into the right jack, and the jack is tasked to microphone, but when I go to the microphone properties in Recording Devices, it says its plugged into the front panel jack when it is plugged into the back panel.
I have windows 8, can anyone give me a hand with this?

I dont have a multimeter, and I havent changed any settings. My mic is on a headset, and the headset works but the mic doesnt. I disabled front panel jack recognition and my computer is now recognising it, but it isnt recording anything. Also, when I try to task the jack that the mic is actually plugged into to mic in, a notification pops up telling me the device type is not supported. Also if I disable the front panel jacks from being recognised, then the microphone is recognised as plugged in, however if I enable the front panel, it says the mic is not plugged in.
