Hello Everybody!
Everything was fine with my computer until at one point the game I was playing at the time froze, not to worried I used alt tab to check what had happened. To my surprise I see my cpu meter on 100% not to worried I restart my computer. When it is back on I notice when its idle is 40% + Which started to worry me. From then on my cpu has been incredibly high, since then I have done a defragmentation, disc clean, disc check. My cpu is an dual Athlon II and has always been running fine. I even opened my side panel encase it was over heating ( this didn't help) Finally after checking some things I noticed the when idle the % of cpu used doesn't equate with the amount used for purposes. So I instantly thought malware. I am now doing a full scan but If I still fail to find my issue does anyone have any suggestions? Also sorry for lengthy text but I wanted you to understand exactly my situation.
Thank you in advance!

System spec:
Windows 7 home premium 32 bit
radeon 5670
4gb ram
250gb hard drive
Amd Athlon II

the CPU fan could be slowly dying. I highly doubt a virus (still possible but not likely) that is causing the above-normal load. also check to see what programs are started as more programs are set to start, the more the CPU works.

I will check what you said once I can but in the case that it is the fan then how can I find out and is it relatively easy/cheap to replace fan? Also I did run it with an open case in order to check if it was the fan and I noticed no difference.

you can always open the side case and listen for any subnormal sounds like for instance scraping/grinding coming from the fan. also feel the air coming from the fan, is it a lot, or a little? most replacement fans are really cheap.
