Good people of toms hardware, i require your assistance!

So recently i put together a brand new rig and wired everything up and everything APPEARS to be correct, however, so, out of laziness i was hoping i could avoid using a new copy of windows but m not sure what else i can do. Whenever the computer boots, it either wants to use the god awful winki controller ( which blackscreens if accepted) or if i attempt to boot from first hdd it tells me it cant find it. i have the ahci option enabled because im using

and it has the smart swap crap, anyway, can someone offer me some suggestions?

full bulid for reference:

AMD FX 8350

Zotac GTX 780

Thermal Take level 10 GT snow edition

Welcome to Tom's!

So, I take it that this is on a different motherboard from the one that the pre-existing windows was installed on? On a purely technical level the motherboard drivers are all wrong for the new board, and you need to try a "repair installation" by booting the Windows Install disk. If that doesn't work then a clean install is indicated. Now, depending on if your original license for Windows was a full retail or a OEM license, you may need to purchase a new license from Microsoft.

Good Luck!

I see, well, thanks for your snappy input, sadly i was really having to avoid using a fresh install as the solution, but sadly it doesn't seem like i have much of a choice, and as far as getting a " repair installation" i dont really have that option, so i think ill just try a fresh install and see what happens.
