Choppy video when accessing NAS after new drive installs

I just upgraded my Zyxel NSA320 to dual 4TB drives (WD Red - I spoke to tech support & they said they work with latest firmware - which I have), in RAID 1. The upgrade was successful with no issues that were noticeable. Sometimes while coping files to the device and I am getting system lag, distorted video playback and "digitized" audio sounds on the video.

The system I'm running is a i7 3370k, SSD, 32Gb RAM so I don't think it is the workstation.

I am also getting slower than normal speeds on transfer.

Does anyone know of anything I can test or check to see what might be causing this issue?

I did mean firmware update of the 320. I asked Zyxel support if the device would support these drives and they said it would with this new firmware (4.62).

This issues seems to be more of a problem when I use Windows Explorer for copy and not when I FTP the files over. Either way the NAS isn't running nearly as fast as it was, maybe 1/3 to 1/2 the speed. :(
