Hi all, Currently we are trying to synchronize all our company laptops to Windows 8 but I do have one VP user who prefers Windows 8.1.
We are using SCCM to generate monthly reports.

1) Is there somewhere on the registry where I can change the Windows 8.1 to be detected as Windows 8 ? And of course I would get the user to sign a understanding that we will not be responsible for any issues on it

2) What would be the impact if we use SCCM push down patches for Windows 8 ?

Probably easier (and safer) to customize the report to include that 8.1 machine in with the count of Windows 8 machines. I don't know what the impact would be. It could have no impact, or you could have to have that system re-imaged each time SCCM pushes out a new patch. If your one VP is so attached to Windows 8.1, then that VP should provide sufficient budget to the Configuration Management group so that you can effectively create and support a second collection (that one laptop).
