Hi all, I currently maintain a wireless network for my fraternity. In the beginning everything was running well but for the past few months the router drops on an incredibly frequent basis (usually multiple times a day) and I'm looking to get a new one.

Here are some details about the situation:
-There are usually 20-30 devices connected at any given time, up to 60 or so during a period of high activity
-It is not surprising to see multiple people streaming video, music, playing games, etc at once
-We receive 2 50x5 lines through 2 separate cable modems, combined by a TP-Link R470T+ load-balance router, connected to a managed switch serving 3 Unifi APs
-I am absolutely positive the router is the problem here
-Getting a 100x10 line is not an option
-We are looking to spend (ideally) no more than $300 for a reliable multi-wan router if such a thing is possible

I was wondering if anybody here had any recommendations for a good reliable router that can handle our needs. Thanks a lot.

Have you tried checking for a firmware upgrade for the router?

For that many devices you may want to get more than 3 AP for wireless as well as a router update.

Cisco Small Business RV042 more bandwidth than the TP-Link you have and is pretty cheap.

This may help you, although the prices for routers that can support 30+ users at a time tends to go over $300 http://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=12297...
