Hello everyone!

I recently installed assassin creed 3 on my pc and it barely gave me 15-20 fps on the lowest settings. It lags too much and I'm not able to play the game. Here are my specs:

Intel core 2 duo e7500 @2.93 Ghz
AMD Radeon HD 6750 1gb DDR5 graphics card
4 gb RAM
Windows 7 64 bit

Please tell me is there anything wrong with my processor, graphics card or RAM. if there is something wrong among any of them. please recommend me a better option so that i can run AC3 smoothly on better graphics.

Thanks in advance.

Solution
Assassin's Creed 3 is a very badly optimized port, that runs into massive performance issues in Boston if you don't have a fast CPU. The game leans very heavily on one core, and doesn't really use any of the others, so you very quickly run into a CPU bottleneck unless you have a Sandy Bridge Intel chip or newer or a really high clocked AMD FX chip. The Core 2 series doesn't really have the IPC or clock speeds needed to run AC3 well. Ubisoft's stance on PC optimization is they don't need to do it because they can just tell their customers to buy better hardware if the game doesn't run well.

Yes, but that also didn't make much difference. If you have played AC3, I get too much lag in the Boston area where there is too much crowd.

I have an nvidia gt 620 and I am easily able to play it on medium 1366x768 resolution with no lag, your gpu is certainly better than mine though. I don't think its the gpu which is causing the problem

What is your CPU and RAM ?

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I'm planning on getting the AMD fx-6300 CPU. Will that solve the issue?

An FX 6300 would help, though AC3 is more of a single threaded game, so a newer Intel chip would do even better, as they have better single core performance, but of course cost more. You may want to consider getting a higher quality motherboard and an aftermarket cooler and try overclocking the 6300. Even with a new CPU, don't expect the greatest performance in the game, your GPU is on the older and slower side, but it should deliver playable performance once you get the CPU problem sorted.

Hopefully whenever Ubisoft gets around to redoing their engine for the Asssassin's Creed games, they'll get around to improving its multithreading abilities so it stops choking because it maxes out one core. AC4 seems to run better than AC3, but has the same problem, I think AC4 only runs better because it doesn't have crowds or land based areas quite as large as the Boston area in AC3.

Thanks for the info. Could you please tell me what would be the cheapest motherboard that would go with the fx 6300. What would be the price of it?
