What is Digital Fine Contrast?

Hi.

I am in the process of buying a new monitor for my PC, preferably one with better image quality than my current LG 20.1" LCD Flatron L206WTQ. However, it has come to my attention that several monitors on the market only provide minor improvements in this regard; they typically boast a full HD resolution of 1080p, but lag behind in terms of contrast ratio, response time and brightness.

Have a look at the specs of my current LG monitor compared to the BenQ GW2760HS:

To me these specifications seem very similar, except for the obvious difference in resolution. What confuses me the most is that the contrast ratio of the LG monitor is labeled DFC (Digital Contrast Ratio). What does this mean? Is the 3000:1 contrast ratio of the BenQ monitor better than the 5000:1 DFC of the one from LG? Are there any major improvements that justify the former's price tag?

I need a new monitor, as I plan on connecting both my PC and PS4 to it in order to play my games in crisp HD resolution.

Guess it all depends on you ;) If it were me, I would jump on it, I like having all the extra monitor space as I generally have a ton of Windows open and have been using multi-monitor setups for a few years now. The BenQ is a great monitor and I think you'll be happy with it, but I'm not going to be touching your wallet ;)

Alright. Does that mean my current monitor, which utilizes 5000:1 DFC contrast ratio, has better contrast than the one from BenQ, which has 3000:1?

EDIT: Posted as answer, sorry. :p

Do you think the BenQ monitor is worth the money? To me the differences seem minor, and if both the contrast and response time are worse than on my current display the purchase can't really be justified.
