E8400 overclocking issues

Good afternoon,
I'm a broke lad who can't afford to buy new hardware for my computer so I decided to get a cheap E8400, since it was good enough for what I wanted to do..
The next day after installing the cpu I tried to overclock it by 15-17%.
That's not much at all, I shouldn't even need to increase voltages on it but whilst playing CS:GO either my game would crash completly or the computer would suddently reboot or display a BSOD.
I tried to increase the voltages on the CPU, NB and Memory.. Nothing worked.
I downclocked it from 3.55 to 3.4 and it still hasn't worked
Temps are pretty low, 35ºC idle, 45-50 gaming.
Any clues on what it could be? Help would be much appreciated!
Cheers,
Victor

Edit: The voltages after I increased were at about 1.236V to 1.276, roughly below 1.3V
At the moment they are at 1.15-1.17V below 1.2V
Neither of those solved the issue

Pretty sure the issue is the overclock, but this issue bothers me and I'll be obsessing about it until I find a solution or where the issue really comes from lol.
Anyway, more info about the specs:

Motherboard: Asus P5g41t-M LX
CPU: Core2Duo E8400 Wolfdale
GPU: Sapphire HD4870x2
Ram: 4GB Kingston 1333mhz
PSU: An old 600W, 35A power supply

I'm aware the mobo isn't overclock friendly. But before the E8400 I had a E6300 which was overclocked by about 25-30% and never had an issue with it.
Ever since I applied this CPU, I've got coil while from the GPU which I didn't have with the E6300 plus it won't allow me to set the PCI freq to 100, only auto. Just thought I'd say something about, even if it has nothing to do with the issue
