Hi guys.

I was looking at GPU-Z before and noticed the bus interface section reports mine as being PCI-E 3.0 capable but running in 2.0

I was wondering what exactly does this mean and would this make any difference to how well my graphics card performs?

As far as the components in question go I have a MSI X79A GD45 (8D) and an MSI R9 290 Gaming GPU.

Thanks guys!

That`s a very good question.

Anyway now for your answer, yes it is indeed running at 2.0 PCI-E.
And the good news is a R9 290 card is a PCI-E card.

And the answer is on some boards you have to go into the bios and force PCI-E 3.0 mode for the PCI slot on the motherboard.

You will see an increase in frame rates.
