My PC came installed with a ga-970a-ud3p motherboard and a gtx 770. The product claimed to be SLI ready. If I purchase another gtx 770, will it operate properly in this board?

Solution

Then you should get another card, or get a 4GB version of the GTX770. More memory will help (a lot) with several monitors. And with this said, I don't know if you can SLI cards with different dedicated memory, but probably yes. One more note, not all games will benefit having two GTX770s, because of how they are codded, and the drivers may also be a problem.

Don't go for it. That mobo has 2x PCI express slots but only the first one foes 16x. The second will run 4x. You'll have to get another mobo if you want to have a performance increace. Also, don't forget to check the PSU. http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4717#sp

1. 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16) (Note 3)
2. 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x4 (PCIEX4)

Another note: Two GPUs, twice the probability of having a problem. A single GPU solution is always better (maybe not for the wallet though)

Yes. And since it's a medium-high end GPU, you'll almost have no advantage of it.

Are you using 1080p monitor or higher definition? One or more monitors? Why do you want to get another one?

Thank you enderegg, you guys are fast with the responses and that pcie x4 was my main concern. Now a follow up question, if newegg said that this computer comes with an AMD 990fx chipset, was I sold the wrong product?

You are probably using a FX-8350 am I right? If it is that chipset I'm not sure, but I don't believe so; But that isn't a problem for the CPU, since it's backwards compatible. But yes, the main advantage of the 990FX was both PCI express slots running at 16x.

The advantage of getting the 970, is exactly the lower price, but with almost (if not) the same performance. Again, there's that "problem"
