Amd A8-5600k and gtx 650 ti bf4

Solution
In fact here's a good one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130746, FM2+ and free Battlefield--pair that with a new A10-7850k and a Radeon 260 or 265 and you'll have the basis of a decent gaming rig. Mantle will help you out a lot--its strong point seems to be reducing the bottlenecks introduced by slower CPUs so you should get good, playable framerates at decent quality that way.

Edit: just noticed this motherboard was the one OP was already looking at...I haven't had my coffee today. Get the MSI A88 board and a new A10-7850k and you'll be good!

Well a 650 Ti averages 29fps on Battlefield 4 at 1080p Ultra with a Core i5, so I'd imagine with an A8-5600k (which is more or less a Phenom II X4)
you'd see 30-40+fps on medium.

I'd seriously recommend getting at least an AMD FX-6300 as you are not using the integrated graphics of the A8 and that is the main reason to buy that chip. The FX is only $20 more than the A8 on Newegg so I'd definitely recommend the FX :)

This close to your $500 budget. R7 260 is faster than a GTX 650 ti.

If you really want to stay with that route, find an FM2+ board running the same promotion (check newegg, I know I've seen A88 boards with free BF4) and get a new A10-7850k. The cpu part of that is a little better than a Phenom II X4 and they'll only improve from here.
