my keyboard works in the bios but when I go to log into windows safe mode or not it refuses to work i have tried the keyboard on other comps it works i have tried another keyboard on my comp same issue can anyone recommend a fix?

Solution
Try installing the USB Controller driver. Make sure that USB is enabled in BIOS. I also recommend using USB 2.0 for mice and keyboards. Or if you are using PS/2 then, obviously, use the correct PS/2 ports. And make sure they are enabled in the BIOS if there is an option for that in the BIOS. Or the Motherboard is bad and need replaced. That is the worst case scenario.

Before answering this I think we're going to need more details:

Is the keyboard USB or PS/2?
Have you tried it in other ports?
Have you tried starting the PC without the keyboard and then plugging it in once windows has loaded? (assuming it's USB).
Has this keyboard worked on this PC before, or is this a new PC?

Also, you mention in the title (but not the post) that this issue extends to the mouse as well, are they a wireless combo or otherwise bundled together?
