Maximus Hero VI Drivers/Utilities Fresh Win7 64 Install

I just installed Win7 64 on my new Hero board and went to the website to update drivers and utilities. I have a few questions:

1) Why does Asus include multiple versions of many of the packages? I assume I should use the newest, but the fact that they leave others around makes me think the older ones may be more stable.

2) Some of the drivers and utilities are obvious that I need them. Others are less obvious (especially in the utility section). Should I simply install every unique package on the site, or is there a good list of items I should be focusing on?

3) Following on #2 above - from the SATA section... are all these necessary? Some names are similar, but they are all clearly different versions.

Asmedia SATA Controller Driver V1.3.4.1 for Windows 7/8 32bit & 64bit.(WHQL)

Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology Driver Software V12.8.0.1016 for Windows 7/8/8.1 32bit & 64bit.(WHQL) & Intel(R) AHCI/RAID Driver for Windows 7/8/8.1 32bit & 64bit.

Intel Rapid Start Technology Software V3.0.0.1056 for Windows 7/8/8.1 32bit & 64bit.

Intel Smart Connect Technology Software V4.2.40.2439 for Windows 7/8/8.1 32bit & 64bit.

Thank you so much for your help!!

They leave the older ones because some people need the older ones to fall back on.

A good list to be going with are Chipset, Audio, Ethernet, the USB 3.0 Controllers if you have them and video, They like to load the utilities section with a whole bunch of useless programs.

You want to install the AHCI/RAID driver and the Rapid Storage Technology driver software and just go for the newest ones.

After thats done let me know if you still have some unknown devices in your Device manager

Thank you! I'll give it a go when I get home tonight. As you can imagine, I don't want to load up my machine with bloatware, but I also don't want to find out that something isn't working (or working efficiently) because I chose to skip an update.

On the utility side, the AI Suite looks like one I should look into. The other ones that I recognize don't look particularly useful. I'm mostly hoping the ones are don't recognize aren't of high value.

I could always save an image and then load/test everything out. I just hate to be forced to do that :)

Thanks again!!
