Homebuild for my son. We have checked and replaced every component and we still get the same failure when we try to install. I have even tried installing Windows 7 Home and get the same message.

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings, and then click "next"
3. Click "repair your computer."

I have tried diskpart, clean, reformat and I am just at the end of my rope. What am I missing???!!!

Hi

a few suggestions

I can't see anything about your hard disk
what make & size (MBR ? or GPT if over 2TB or UEFI )

It needs testing in another Windows PC
use something like Western Digital Data Life Guard Windows software (even if not a WD drive)

Check ram using memtest86 or memtest86+ (recent version)

check Win 7 DVD or DVD drive is not damaged by moving DVD drive to another PC and trying to copy all files on DVD over to a hard disk
(with plenty of free space on it )

See if a Live Linux disk boots up on the PC and can run without problems

See if in BIOS there is option to disable L3 or L2 cpu cache
If after turning cache off it runs slowly but works reliably maybe the CPU has been damaged by static
This happened to me many years ago with a Athlon cpu with similar strange problems

[I presume you would see a message saying press any key to boot from Windows DVD and ignoring it after first time]
